The following are unprofessional gear reviews that are undoubtedly biased and marginally helpful, all based on our 17 day trip on the John Muir Trail. Use this page at your own risk.

Steripen

By far our biggest gear blunder was the Steripen. Not sure if ours were defective or what, but we managed to blow through 24 AA batteries during our trip, leading to excessive pack weight and water purification woes.
